Dream House Music

What Is Dream House Music?

Dream House Music Dream House Music is also known as dream trance. Although it was a "flash in the pan" Dream House Music was very successful on the dance scene between 1995 and 1997. Melody is the all-important feature of Dream House Music - and, as its name suggests, this is usually very dreamy and down-beat, with soft melodic sounds and a sharp pounding drum beat. It can also feature a heavenly female or choir voice such as that in Zhi-vago and DJ Dado. Very often, Dream House Music is played on a piano, although it can also be played on such instruments as a violin or saxophone.

An example of Dream House Music is the theme to the CBS TV series NCIS.

When Did Dream House Music Begin?

The term "Dream House Music" was originally created by Italian D.J. Gianni Parrini, at the end of 1993 together with other well known artists like Adriano Dodici, Gigi d'Agostino and Leonardo Rossi. Although D.J. Parrini remains the real leader of Dream House Music, it was underground music legend Robert Miles, whose track called "Children" catapaulted Dream House Music to popularity. Although it was described as "melancholic", its debut album Dreamland became an iconic Dream House Music record. Among the most popular Dream House Music tracks are "Sky Plus" by Nylon Moon, "Celebrate the love" by Zhi-Vago, "In Africa" by Pianonegro, "Metropolis The Legend of Babel" by DJ Dado, "X-Files" by DJ Dado, "Pyramids of Giza" by W. P. Alex Remark, "Moon's Waterfalls" by Roland Brant, "Dreamer" by Antico, "Space Ocean" by Daniele Gas and "Seven Days and One Week" by BBE.

How did Dream House Music Evolve?

Dream House Music became popular in Italy, with the main Italian labels being In Lite, Outta (both from Ala Bianca Group), Desastre (from DB One) and several labels from Zac Music like Vertikal and Elite. Universal also released some Dream House Music.

The Dream House Music production team of Nylon Moon, which was formed by Daniele Maffei (aka Daniele Gas) and Michele Generale released "Sky Plus", which was a huge hit in the mid-nineties. Although other singles followed after this, none ws as popular as this beautiful piano driven track and Dream House Music soon lost its popular appeal and evolved into melodic trance. When this happened, many artists from this era, including Nylon Moon, disappeared or moved on to new projects.

The Future of Dream House Music

Although traces of dream house music can be found in today's progressive trance, the original Dream House Music has evolved into other variants such as Cosmic-Dream, which is deeper and more reflective. An example of this type of Dream House Music is Brothers of The Coast.
